Timemore Siphon coffee maker 2.0
SIPHON BREWING
Choose a quality 3 or 5 cup siphon and experiment!
One of the most impressive ways to make coffee. It's a science! By heating the bottom chamber, the pressure pushes water up into the upper chamber to mix with the ground coffee. Once mixed, the coffee is drawn down into the lower chamber as the pressure drops creating a vacuum effect via a filter and voila, your coffee is brewed!
Timemore has created this work of art with design and elegance in mind. The wooden handle is a reflection of their hourglass logo. The handle is further away from the hot glass than most siphons (1.5 cm between the fingers and the lower bowl) to prevent accidental burns. Crystal clear borosilicate glass paint that is highly heat resistant creates a sense of calm that nothing dangerous can happen.
A brewing suggestion
- Cover the metal filter with fabric filter and pull the string to tighten the fabric.
- Pull the metal chain link through the glass tube until it is stuck to the tube
- Pour water into the lower chamber
- Turn on the heater and tilt the upper glass chamber to the side, so the two glass pieces are out of place. Let the water heat up.
- When the water starts to boil in the lower chamber, place the upper chamber on top of the lower chamber so that they are firmly in place.
- When hot water enters the upper chamber, remove the lid and add 20g of ground coffee.
- Stir the ground coffee into the water. Let it go for 1 minute
- Some prefer to push the coffee into the water with the stick at this stage instead of stirring the water.
- To avoid over-extraction, you can move the heater to the side to reduce the temperature. During heating, you can stir again.
- Turn off the heater after 1 min. Wait for the brewed coffee to enter the lower chamber.
- You will notice that the ground coffee is on top.
- Hold the wooden handle and rotate slightly to remove the upper glass chamber.
- Then insert the upper chamber into the plastic lid which acts as a stand while it drips.
Now you can enjoy your coffee, just hold the wooden handle and serve the coffee.
Usually the ratio of coffee to water is 1:13 -15. A cup is usually 100ml -120ml
