AILLIO BULLET R1 V2 Coffee Roaster

Bullet R1 is a 1KG solid steel drum coffee roaster. Automatic barrel preheating, adjustable heat and fan speed, and continuous real-time feedback from infrared bean and barrel temperature probes to enable precise, consistent roasting. Details of each roast can be digitally recorded and saved as roast profiles which can then be played back or shared between roasters. Bullet is best for people who are familiar with roasting, as it requires regular cleaning and maintenance. You can fry via the Bullet control panel, but you must connect to a PC or Mac for better control, to keep the machine up to date and to get diagnostic information.

The Bullet R1 (Version 2) is a great option for the home roaster who wants more control and capacity, or light commercial roasting. The machine can easily fry with its maximum capacity of 1 kilo per batch with its induction heating technology, and offers a new level of control of frying parameters from the touchpad controls or USB connection to a PC. We received our test unit a couple of months before our first batch of bullets went on sale at Oakland and it has inspired a lot of excitement around the warehouse.

Roasting sample batches on the Bullet is also quite easy, we usually roast all our samples on this as well. With samples as little as 150g it works really well on the Aillio Bullet. For our commercial use at Bud's beans, we also find Bullet a reliable partner. On average, we fry around 20 kilos a week on the Aillio ball, and it always gives reliable and consistent results with minimal effort. Although most of our roasting is done manually, there are a few recipes that we love, and the playback feature is great. Here we just press play and the machine copies the recipe!

The ease of use, to "record" and "play back" roasts (and share them with all other Bullet users), live logging of roast settings and ROR (rate of rise) of the beans, and the fact that you can do back to back roasts (start a new batch while chilling the previous one) are all icing on the cake. Plus it's built to last and looks damn good too! The machine is designed by Jonas and Jacob Lillie in Denmark and built in small batches in Taiwan. Almost every part for the Bullet build comes from Jonas, even down to the screws, to ensure the quality and longevity of the machine.

Connect the R1 to a PC via micro-USB (type A), and you can see your roasting profile on a real-time graph using the free proprietary program "Roast Time". You can then save your roasts, so you can 'plug & play' successful profiles or exchange roast data with other R1 users.
